Update Your Sheriff License Key

Occasionally, you may need to replace the Sheriff license key in your Sheriff CSM instance. For example, you may need to replace a trial license with a perpetual license, or you have migrated Sheriff CSM from VMware to Hyper-V, therefore you must use a different license key.

To replace the SheriffApp license key in Sheriff CSM
  1. Connect to the Sheriff Console through SSH and use your credentials to log in.

    The Sheriff Setup menu displays.

  2. Select Maintenance & Troubleshooting.

  3. Select Update license information.

  4. Select Online Registration if you have Internet access. You will be prompted to enter the new license key:

    AlienVault Setup Menu > Enter <a class="foswikiNewLink" href="/docs/bin/edit/Sheriff/AlienVault?topicparent=Sheriff.UpdateYourSheriffLicenseKey" rel="nofollow" title="Create this topic">AlienVault</a> License Key

  5. Alternatively, if you do not have Internet access, select Offline Registration.

Important: To continue, you must have received a license file from Sheriff Support, see Registering Sheriff CSM Offline for more details.

  6. Insert the USB drive containing the license file.

  7. Click <OK> or press Enter to register the new license key.

The Sheriff License Key update process is now complete.
